Serbia 2010
Di Milica Cirovic (del 21/01/2010 @ 11:32:12, in Mondo, linkato 244 volte)

Great scientists such as Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin, theologians Saint Bishop Vladika Nikolaj Velimirovic and Saint Justin Popovic, Nobel prize winner for literature Ivo Andric, amazing athletes all around the world, hospitality and friendliness of people, geography and nature of the country, monasteries dating from 13th century are just few of many things that Serbia has to be proud of and to offer to the world. But we cannot say that we can be proud of politicians that were leading the country in the last 50 years till this moment. Kings that were in the first rows when Serbia was to be defended and dying to protect women and land, were replaced by story-tellers and sophisticated criminals. Nobody in the history was working against their own people and certainly not that hard. But there is a spark of hope that things are about to change.

In 2010, we presented the Kosovo case at the International Court of Justice where the rising forces such as China and Russia had their say. In some months we are going to receive the results of a trial. There are predictions that even if we win it, it is hard to have it back fully. But surely it can be a starting point of changes and making peace between Kosovo Albanians and Serbian people. Europe is not supporting us and recognizes this hotbed of human trafficking, prostitution, drug empire and the human organ traffic. This immorality and ugliness is supported by Europe. Are we sure we want to be a part of it?

Moreover, we were blessed with elections in September and it is already 3 months that the opposition party DSS and SNS (Democratic Party of Serbia and Serbian Nationalistic Party) are the ruling party of Serbia. This is the first time for them, after so many years of fighting to move from the opposition side to the winners'. While still pro-European they always emphasize strong bonds with Russia and strictly oppose the NATO accession that committed genocide over Serbian people in 1999. But we have to be cautious since we were always fighting for so many people to conquer the throne, just to realize soon after that we have been led into the trickery and left alone. This government has to be very careful about its actions and has to react very quickly, because Serbian people cannot forget the bitterness and despair that they had with previous democracy. What I can say for sure is that EU is going to have hard time breaking our backbone because the new party is less disciplined and less systematic. They are not afraid and concerned to make a good impression on sophisticated rulers of Europe and they are leaning more towards the always rising Putin. NATO is out of the question and alliance talks with Russia is on the table. Brussels is pulling the hair out and the ex-ruling party is crying over the media. Things are still not going well, but Serbian people are standing straight once again.

In addition to EU obsession, the only slogan that our ex-ruling and not so democratic party had was the way to the Europe! That strikes me and make me wonder what the Europe is? As soon as we applied for the admission to EU we were asked to make the “Pride parade” where homosexuals can show to all of us how not special we are. In the times where elder people of Serbia are struggling to survive due to continuously cut pension, we discuss on media the role of homosexuals. In the time when people of privatized companies eat their fingers in strikes to attract the attention of narcissist president, we establish the Darwin day in order to celebrate that we became from monkeys. In the time when children of Serbia are unemployed and indulge in criminal, we watch Big Brother and the ridiculous people in them ready to do anything to get a small fraction of attention. We are forced to give in “war criminals” while we are being treated unfairly. Our Jerusalem, our Kosovo has been taken from us in the most brutal and illegal way, based on the laws of the jungle and all that is being supported by the whole Europe. So, where are we going?

I am not being pessimistic, but realistic. I am not against the accession, but the most important thing for the country is to preserve its culture and moral values, nurture its religion and take care of elder and young. I am against exchange of valuables for accession, I am against the approach that we are not worth unless we are there with them. We have to improve in economical, political and social terms and the EU should be the additional detail that can help the country grow, but certainly it should not be the only solution.

Needless to say, this is just the beginning. Serbian people cannot rely on anybody. We have to make our way through difficult times. There are no more excuses and comfortable accusations of government. We have to stand up proudly and be aware of the media manipulation and always ready to fight for a change and then and only then other countries will fight for us.

This article is also an invitation for all intelligent Serbian people scattered around the world to wake up, connect and to create ways to improve the position of our farmers that have fed us, our elders that have built Serbia and our children that will proudly continue carrying the guilt of being Serbian.
